Amazing and unusual Oriental Beauty made from Jin Xuan cultivar in Long Tan, north Taiwan.

Teas from Long Tan are almost impossible to find outside Taiwan. Production is low and demand is high.

We were offered this oolong by our friend who is pu-erh and liu bao dealer but once in  a year they buy almost whole summer crop from small producer in Long Tan.

Amazing taste profile. Dry leaves smell like fresh green apple and citruses, and liquor is thick and bold with strong notes of tropical fruits. For us it’s like tea version of Skittles 🙂

Here you will find also notes of lemon, orange, flowers and honey.

It’s not the most expensive Oriental Beauty in our offer, but we must say – it’s the best one.

Very limited.

* this tea requires good quality water and some attention. Teas like that one I usually call “quiet tea” because it shows its full beauty only when you are focused.

During my tea life I tasted so many Oriental Beauty (known also as Bai Hao oolong) made in Taiwan, China, Vietnam or even Thailand. And it’s so hard to find decent one! This kind of tea requires a lot of effort to produce it and the best Oriental beauty comes from old tea makers, cause the new generation of tea farmers, in general, want to produce less demanding teas. It’s one of my most difficult challenges to find tasty and affordable Oriental Beauty.

Description

Origin: Long Tan, Taoyuan, Taiwan

Harvest/Vintage: summer 2023

Tea Varietal: Jin Xuan

Temperature of water and amount of leaves: 85-95 C 5g/100ml. (let the boiling water to cool down for minute)

Suggested brewing method: Yixing clay teapot or gaiwan of low capacity. First, you should pre-heat empty teapot/gaiwan and tea cups with boiling water. When the teapot is warmed, then you put the tea leaves in. After smelling hot and dry leaves in the pot, gently pour the  water to the pot.  First infusion should be very short- not more than 20-30 seconds. We suggest to increase brewing time for 5-10 seconds in each next brewing. You can prepare at least 8-10 nice brewings!

Please treat it gently. Boiling water is ok, but I like to wait around a minute and then pour the leaves with gentle, smooth stream of hot water. Better to use less leaves to fully enjoy all subtle nuances of that lovely tea.
