Authentic Taiping Hou Kui produced from the ancient Shi Da Ye variety (known locally as Tu Zhong) in Houkeng – a region considered the birthplace of Tai Ping Hou Kui.
It is one of the most subtle and labour-intensive Chinese green teas.
Flavour profile: young bamboo shoots, orchid, asparagus, a hint of umami, the sweetness of cane sugar.
A tea that demands focused session and very good quality water (low ppm).
Contemplative, fleeting and beautiful – and not just in appearance!
I always say that Taiping Hou Kui reveals its true class above all in its aftertaste.
It is floral, sweet and lingers for a very long time. I have always been amazed by the phenomenon that a tea with such a subtle profile can have such an impressive aftertaste.
The tea was grown in a garden where no pesticides are used.
We strongly recommend ordering the tea in can (30g) which protects the leaves from breaking.
