Rare treat from Ureshino, Saga prefecture.

In the past, these strange ball-shaped leaves were treated as by-product rarely appearing during sencha rolling.

Unusual shape of the tamacha leaves is not only interesting, it causes the tea to open slowly during infusions.

Taste profile of this tamacha reminds me a mix of tamaryokucha and gyokuro… something like that. Tea is well balanced, creamy and oily with pleasant warm character.

Umami is balanced, not too “sea like” but rather round and creamy.

Aroma is full of warm milky and nutty nuances. You will also find lots of fruity freshness typical of gyokuro.

Highly recommended!!

Tea is packed in Japan in 50g bags.
