This sencha was made in organic garden of Misa and Naoki Kamimizu in Miyazaki prefecture.
Garden itself exists since 2009 but Yamakai bushes comes from old organic garden bought by the farmers in 2022.
Sencha we are presenting now is a good example of long-steam-time fukamushi tea.
Leaves are small and chopped what makes the liquor very thick
Yamakai やまかい” (山峡) means “mountain gorge”. Name refers to dark green leaves resembling wild plants growing in deep mountain forests.
Yamakai comes from Yabukita seedlings but it’s very rare. Only around 3% of tea bushes in Japan is Yamakai.
Why we bought this tea?
Because of rich and pleasant umami and very fruity taste profile where you can notice notes of honeydew and cucumber. Also: vegetable broth and some juicy grassiness.
Highly recommended.
Tea is originally packed in 100g vacuum bags with zip-lock, when you order 50g we will pack it in our bag with vacuum and zip-lock too.
