After years of searching, we can finally say: we have excellent tea from Qimen again!
A high-quality black tea, completely free of pesticides.
Don’t be fooled by the tiny leaves and buds, because this is an intense, rich and full-bodied tea!
You will find notes of ripe stone fruit, honey, orchids and dark sugar, typical of Qimen teas.
The infusion is intense, with a distinct bitterness, but its texture is smooth and velvety.
Good black tea for ageing!
Tradition of producing black tea in Qimen is relatively short, because first Qimen black teas were harvested just in 1875. After that time black teas from Qimen started to gain big popularity not only in China, but also in UK. At the turn of the 20th century broken-leaf “Congou” teas were exported to Europe in big amounts. Qimen tea variety is unique, due to strong essential oils creating pure sweet, flowery and honey-like aromas. Taste of Qimen teas is often compared with Burgund red wines because of its intensity and complexity.
Description
Origin: Qimen, Anhui Province, China.
Harvest: April 2025
Cultivar: Zhu Ye
Temperature of water and amount of leaves: 100 C 4-5g/100ml.
Suggested brewing method: Yixing clay teapot or gaiwan of low capacity. First, you should pre-heat empty teapot/gaiwan and tea cups with boiling water. When the teapot is warmed, then you put the tea leaves in. After smelling hot and dry leaves in the pot, gently pour the boiling water to the pot. First infusion should be very short- not more than 15-20 second. We suggest to increase brewing time for 5-10 seconds in each next brewing.
We recommend to brew this tea also in the bowl-style- then please use around 1,5g of leaves for 100ml of water.
