Very good and easygoing Oriental Beauty from Pinglin – area famous from producing Baozhong.

No matter how you brew it, you will always have satisfying brew.

This summer tea produced in June 2023 is very sweet. Rather fruity than flowery, with strong notes of tropical fruits, citruses and spring honey.

Tea comes from the garden that does not use pesticides.

It was produced by 4th generation of tea makers family.

During my tea life I tasted so many Oriental Beauty (known also as Bai Hao oolong) made in Taiwan, China, Vietnam or even Thailand. And it’s so hard to find decent one! This kind of tea requires a lot of effort to produce it and the best Oriental beauty comes from old tea makers, cause the new generation of tea farmers, in general, want to produce less demanding teas. It’s one of my most difficult challenges to find tasty and affordable Oriental Beauty.

Description

Origin: Pinglin, New Taipei City, Taiwan

Harvest/Vintage: June 2023

Tea Varietal: Blend of different cultivars – mainly Qing Xin and Jin Xuan

Temperature of water and amount of leaves: 85-95 C 5g/100ml. (let the boiling water to cool down for minute)

Suggested brewing method: Yixing clay teapot or gaiwan of low capacity. First, you should pre-heat empty teapot/gaiwan and tea cups with boiling water. When the teapot is warmed, then you put the tea leaves in. After smelling hot and dry leaves in the pot, gently pour the  water to the pot.  First infusion should be very short- not more than 20-30 seconds. We suggest to increase brewing time for 5-10 seconds in each next brewing. You can prepare at least 8-10 nice brewings!

Please treat it gently. Boiling water is ok, but I like to wait around a minute and then pour the leaves with gentle, smooth stream of hot water. Better to use less leaves to fully enjoy all subtle nuances of that lovely tea.
