Long Fen Xia is considered as the highest part of Shan Lin Xi Mountain. It’s not very old tea production area. First gardens there were made not more than 30-40 years ago. It’s important fact to understand the terroir because Shan Lin Xi is literally wild area. Nowadays you can only see there only tea gardens and different kinds of natural forests.

We visited Long Feng Xia in 2023. It was real fun to see all the steps of producing high mountain oolong – from hand picking, through withering (outdoor and indoor), oxidation, rolling and drying – last two steps are repeated several times until good effect is achieved.

This fresh tea does not need to be described. Incredibly clean, fresh and juicy.

Tasting notes: white flowers, fresh grass, mountain air, honeydew. Thick and creamy texture. Long lasting aftertaste. Well balances bitterness and low astringency.

Perfect example of well made oolong from the garden maintained with care and respect for nature.

Tea made above the clouds!

Highly recommended.

Description

Origin:  above 1800 meters above sea level, Long Feng Xia  Shan Lin Xi, Nantou county, Taiwan,

Harvest: Winter 2023

Cultivar/Tree Variety:  Qing Xin

Temperature of water and amount of leaves: 100 C 5-7g/100ml.

Suggested brewing method: Yixing clay teapot or gaiwan of low capacity. First, you should pre-heat empty teapot/gaiwan and tea cups with boiling water. When the teapot is warmed, then you put the tea leaves in. After smelling hot and dry leaves in the pot, gently pour the boiling water to the pot.  First infusion should be very short- not more than 40 second. Second infusion should be little bit shorter than first one cause the leaves are more open then. We suggest to increase brewing time for 5-10 seconds in third and each next brewing.
